Welcome to the music website of Melissa Lawrence.
I play the piano, electronic keyboard and I also sing.
At the moment, I'm mainly performing in care homes for the elderly in the Leicestershire area. I'm quite comfortable working with residents who have mental health issues such as dementia as I know from personal experience just how valuable and stimulating music can be for them.
My "act" includes playing lively tunes on the electronic keyboard from a "bygone era" such as Telstar, Let's Twist Again, Blue Suede Shoes and New York, New York as well as more modern numbers like Tie A Yellow Ribbon, Amarillo and This Old House. I like to add in a few slower numbers too such as Blue Moon, Strangers In The Night, The Bells of St Mary's and Whispering Grass.
I also do a "singalong" style of performance with lots of songs that people can join in with if they wish. I offer a mixture of songs including some of the wartime favourites such as We'll Meet Again, Show Me The Way To Go Home and Pack Up Your Troubles, as well as Old Time Music Hall numbers such as Lily of Laguna, Daisy Daisy and Maybe It's Because I'm A Londoner.
I can also do songs from shows such as The Sound of Music and My Fair Lady.
I'm happy providing this entertainment to large or small groups.
When performing in a care home, I always like to make time after my performance to chat with residents and staff on a personal basis. I never just rush off!
Please feel free to get in touch with me to discuss your requirements and I'll be happy to try and help you in whatever way I can.
